Hanua means home

Derived from the Rotuman language, the word Hanua embodies all that is our home. The feeling, the connection and the sense of belonging that unites a people.

Hanua was created from a deep desire to preserve our Pacific island way of life. Our culture, our community & the natural world around us is at the core of the cause.

Founder Story

Raised in Fiji’s remote island communities, Hannah Bennett is a Polynesian surfer, community leader, and mother of two whose life and work have been deeply shaped by her connection between the ocean and her cultural identity. Over the past decade, she has worked across grassroots surfing and youth development initiatives throughout the Pacific, helping grow community programs while supporting the emergence of women in surfing and ocean leadership. Hanua is the culmination of this journey — rooted in heritage, shaped by surf culture, and driven by a commitment to stewardship, storytelling, and creating meaningful pathways for the next generation.
